“A Ribbon of Shining Steel” the Railway Diary of Kate Cameron.
Author: Julie Lawson
Book Review By Abbie
The book I reviewed is called “A Ribbon of Shining Steel” the Railway Diary of Kate Cameron, written by Julie Lawson. You can find this book in our school library. I think that this book is a good book because it is about a real historic time and it is also about Canadian history. I also think that lots of the other books in the series are good too but I haven't read all of the books of this series in the library yet. If you are a fast reader it will take you about 2 hours to read,if you are a slow reader it will take you 5 hours.
This book is about a girl named Kate who lives in a small town called Yale B.C. After Kate almost drowns, her father gives her a diary to record her life and so as not to forget these times. Kate’s dad is working on the railway, and Kate sometimes has nightmares about her father going to the hospital. The story was around the time when the C.P.R was being built. The story is about the young girl named Kate is trying to figure out the rights and wrongs and her place in the world.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K Rowling
Book Review by D'Angelo
The book that I read is called Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K. Rowling. This is the seventh book of the series. All the books in the series are in our school library. This is a good book because it is filled with action, adventure and imagination. It takes you to a magical place called Hogwarts, where there are witches and wizards. Harry is the main character in this book. He is now the only potter alive since he is a orphan, because Voldemort killed his parents and family. In the book Harry is sixteen turning seventeen. When Harry becomes seventeen his protective charm will break. There is a protective bubble on Privet Drive, that is to help him be safe again. Will he be safe or will Voldemort kill Harry...
“A Series Of Unfortunate Events” by Lemony Snicket
Book Review By Abbie
The book I reviewed is called “A Series Of Unfortunate Events” written by Lemony Snicket. You can find this book series in our school library. I think that this book is the best book series ever, because the books are mysterious and filled with action.
The books are about three kids ages 3,13, and 14 years old. They lose their parents in a fire that destroys their house. Then the meet a wicked person named Count Olaf who is trying to steal their fortune. Then in the end Count Olaf chases the kids everywhere around the world, until maybe one day he will stop… read the book to find out.
Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Getaway
Book Reviewed by D’Angelo
The book I reviewed is called Diary of a Wimpy Kid : The Getaway by Jeff Kinney. All the books in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series are in our school library, there are thirteen books in total. The main character is Greg Heffley. Greg is a lazy kid who plays video games in his free time. He lives with his mom, dad, his annoying little brother Manny and his mean big brother Rodrick.
I like this graphic novel because it is funny. In the book Greg’s family takes a plane to a resort in Mexico. One day Greg goes to put on his slippers after taking a shower and he realized that there was a spider in his slippers. He screamed, then caught the spider and flushed it down the toilet. One time his little brother Manny was sitting in the sink washing his dad's underwear using Rodrick's toothbrush. Another time when Greg’s family were eating they saw an injured bird, they looked away for a second and a bunch of birds took their food, so they only had their sodas. When they went for a drink they realized there were a lot of slugs on their cups. Those are my favourite funny moments in the book. I think this would be a good book for several grade levels.
